Alberta is now home to the largest area of protected boreal forest in the world, following an announcement Tuesday that set aside more than 13,600 square kilometres of land across much of northeast Alberta.

It is the first time in my camping life that I experienced
four seasons in one week.
On Tuesday afternoon we were swimming in Canisbay Lake
enjoying the warmth of the day.
By Saturday the temperatures had fallen to minus three - hot stove weather.

A few weeks back I came back from an amazing trip in Bon Echo Park. We stayed for 2 nights and 3 days and everything was amazing, we could not have asked for better weather. During our first canoe ride to the camp site from the canoe launch area we had some trouble navigating through a shallow swamp area and thought we were lost! We double back and found out that there was no other way through so we correctly decided to push on through to the other side. Once we got through the shallow area...

Two vehicles from two different directions charted their way through the off and on rain to rendezvous at Kennisis Lake Dam. The clouds looked threatening as we packed the canoes but by the time the task was completed the sun burst out assuring us the next three nights and four days would be a blast.

It's always the same...
spend an hour cleaning the site of any debris; picking up bottle caps,
cutting down old tower guy lines and checking out the site
for widow makers and possible puddle areas.
Once that is done the camp is set up.

I live in South Africa, which isn't exactly a good thing and after doing some extensive research, I've concluded that Canada is literally my dream place to live. It has everything I could wish for in a country, it is clean, safe, free of crime and political corruption, its cold and its in the North. The people seem great and of course the camping sites seem awesome too! It is literally the polar opposite of South Africa and that is in every way a good thing for me.

I spent many summers there, starting from the Kawaywaymog entrance point. My family and I would spend a couple weeks going extremely far out into the park.
