In one casual conversation with a forest ranger in one mountain resort, he said that camping in mountains are far safer than camping by the water. Staying overnight by the river bank or by the lakeside poses many dangers. One is the snake. Yeah, there are also snakes in the forest but they are not attackers unlike the snakes near the water, they tend to attack people. Another danger is the crocodile especially if there is a nearby swamp. Crocs are predators and you have to avoid them all the time.
