The Channels, Abingdon Va

This was very interesting. We heard about this by word of mouth, so we decided to check it out. It was stated on the net and also on my trails app. It was little over 3 miles from the trail head, and the trail was an old abandoned fire tower road. Other than some gain in elevation it was a steady hike. typical old road bed. We almost there. It was like a large rocky bald on top of the mountain with shrubbery and trees growing from deep crevasses around the edges of the granite mountain top. Aha! We almost didn't see this small sign among all the vegetation. Decending into the bowels of what looked like, Troll territory. the channels went every where. We wondered about the history of this area, and how people may have camped here many years ago. She's sitting on a very old laurel bush. Maybe largest I've ever seen.
