Subic is a military base previously occupied by US but is now being managed by the Philippine government. Subic is located in the province of Zambales, about 3 hours drive north of Manila. It is a vast forest reserve that have monkeys and other animals freely roaming. There are also some natives still inhabiting the place. The trails are nice although difficult because of the rough terrain. And getting a permit to hike is not easy because the administrators are wary of accidents. But if you will experience a trek in the forest, it is one good trail.

Do the monkeys ever cause you any problems when you are camping? The only problem I ever encountered with animals, is when racoons raid my camp.
